The British came and assisted me with my dashcam setup by delivering !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! to be used in conjunction with my Note II. I haven't used it yet, so I can't review it and give my assessment of its worth relative to sliced bread. But I do have pics of the unboxing and of my phone in the mount after the jump.
First, the box:
Now, the parts of the mount itself:
The grip attached to the arm.
The grip attached to the smaller piece, which I think I'll be using.
The grip at its minimum width.
The grip at its widest - it should, per the box, accommodate phones that are 5" wide.
I didn't have to struggle to fit the Note II in as it isn't quite 5" wide; the grip doesn't need to be fully extended.
The other draw of this mount, besides being able to accomodate a Note II, is that it leaves the camera exposed.
My main use for a smartphone as a dashcam is being able to take stills while recording. This way, I actually have a chance of catching shots of vanity plates or of cars that catch my eye like the Lotus Elise I saw earlier today, the Camaro ZL1 convertible I saw a few days ago, a Fiero I know of with a screaming chicken on the hood... maybe even one of the new C7 Corvettes that'll be stored for the winter before too long.

Shhhh, but I just ordered one today. Don't let my wife know. I shall face her wrath for the lack of coordination with this purchase. I bought the same model. I hope it really does work on the dash of my E46. I'll find out soon enough.

I'll try it out on our 2012 Focus' textured dash soon enough - I'm hoping the soft-touch nature of it won't interfere. I'm also looking forward to testing their "wash the suction cup with cold water to rejuvenate it" pitch at some point.
